NHS Constitution and Trust Values

(0)
A worksheet which on one sides gives an overview of the NHS Constitution and the values that all NHS employees must follow. On the reverse, students use the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Values (Kindness, Openness, Excellence) to analyse their work experience so far to find examples of where they have met values. The aim is that students can then use these identified examples for personal statements and interviews. They can also use the analysis to find gaps in their work experience to provide some guidance of what they need to do before they begin their applications.

'Think like an Occupational Therapist' Activity

(0)
This activity gives students 4 scenarios to work through where they need to ‘think like an occupational therapist’. For each scenario they are given a a brief patient history and the patient’s personal goal. They need to consider: What barriers, problems or difficulties might prevent the patient from achieving their goal? An Occupational Therapist needs to assess the patient to make sure that they are fit and safe to go home and will work with the patient to help them achieve their goal. Can you think of any assessments, tests or movements they could do to make sure the patient was ready to go? Imagine you’re the occupational therapist. You need to help the patient achieve their goal. Think about the range of tasks and movements the patient might be doing. How could you break these down so it’s more manageable for them? Can you think of any tips, tricks, hints or hacks the patient could use to make it easier for themselves? This could include any equipment too. Answers and talking points provided by Chloe, one of our lovely Medical OTs.
